CHINA - Early 20th century. Pair of archaizing covered vases in spinach-green jade (nephrite), the body carved with registers of Taotie masks, kui dragons and birds facing each other, the sides carved with foliage scrolls, the neck adorned with Taotie masks and flanked by handles in the form of dragon heads supporting mobile rings, the lids surmounted by two lions playing with a ball forming grips. Natural veins, chips. H. 32.8 cm. Wooden bases inlaid with silver threads and openwork with dragons and geometric foliage.
