Cigarette case in silver (800), rectangular and slightly curved. On each side, polychrome cloisonné enamel decoration on a guilloche background of swans on the waves and surrounded by flowers, aquatic plants and foliage. The edges are underlined by a frieze enamelled with white pearls. The push button in amethyst cabochon.

Feodor Ivanovich Rückert, born in 1840, of German origin, became famous for the exceptional quality of his enamel work and for his collaboration with Fabergé from 1887, when the latter opened his branch in Moscow. He also produced for Ovchinnikov, Kurliuvov and Bolin. Specialising in cloisonné and solid enamels, his workshop provided objects of traditional Russian inspiration that were particularly prized by Moscow customers.
