Important female fetish standing with legs apart, arms slightly apart and raised, chest clearly marked. The whole denoting a rather aggressive position. The rather naturalistic head has a face marked by a long straight nose, framed by large almond-shaped eyes. Open mouth, grooved cap. A scarification bars the face transversally at the level of the nose. Above the basin, the entire statue, including the head, is enclosed in a mesh of cotton thread, tied by wrought-iron blades planted in the wood of the sculpture. Semi-hard wood, with a thick grey sacrificial patina, crusty, remnants of feathers. BOBO people, Burkina Faso. 20th century. H.: 100 cm.
