BUST OF FLORA. White marble. H. : 54 including pedestal. H. : 16 cm Restorations notably in the hair, and on the nose, small chips and soiling. Related work : René Frémin, Flore, 1706-1709, marble, signed and dated " FREMIN. / AN.1709 "H. 167 x W. 72 x D. 73 cm, Paris, Musée du Louvre, inv. RF 265. René Frémin, after training with Coysevox and Girardon, was awarded the First Prix de Rome in 1694. During his boarding school at the French Academy in Rome, he became familiar with the great Italian masters, in particular John of Bologna and Bernini. On his return, he was accepted at the Academy and was called upon to work on important projects in Versailles, Paris, Rambouillet and Marly.
