ROUSSEAU Jean-Jacques. Complete collection of works. Geneva, 1782-1790; 17 volumes in 12 strong pet. in-folio, bound in contemporary marbled calf, gilt fillets and arms on the cover, spines (renewed) decorated with gilt motifs, gilt edges. Portrait engraved by Aug. de Saint-Aubin and 37 figures by J. M. Moreau le jeune (30) of which this is the masterpiece and 7 by Le Barbier. BINDINGS WITH THE ARMS OF A MEMBER OF THE RUOLZ DE MONTCHAL FAMILY, struck in the 19th century. He was a descendant of a councillor at the Lyon Mint Court who died in 1728. An amateur has gilded the edges and renewed the spine of the twelve bindings with gilt decoration in the best 18th century style. -Marginal aureole at the bottom of the engravings, more marked in volume XI.
