17th century ITALIAN SCHOOL: PORTRAIT OF A BARBU MAN. Oil on parquet panel. 39.5 x 30 cm. Lifts, lacks. On the back, a number 15 handwritten in ink on a label. Former attribution to Alessandro ALLORI. Provenance: former Gustav NEBEHAY collection, Berlin. Gustav Nebehay (1881-1935) was a leading Austrian bookseller and art dealer. He was also a patron of the arts, notably the Viennese Secession. He met Klimt in 1917 and bought some thirty drawings from him. Gustav Nebehay published catalogs of drawings by Schiele and Klimt.
