Charles Nicolas COCHIN (1715-1790), attributed to : PORTRAIT PRESUME DE MADAME CHARDIN. Lead pencil with white highlights, round form. D. 10 cm. Former provenance: Hôtel Drouot sale, February 28, Maître Lair-Dubreuil et M. Loys Delteil. According to Mr. Pierre Rosenberg, to whom our drawing was submitted in submitted in 1979, that this portrait probably represents Chardin's second wife Chardin's second wife, born François Marguerite Pouget (1707-1791). The couple married at Saint-Sulpice church on November 26, 1744. Examination receipt on Ministry of Culture letterhead, dated February 16, 1979, is enclosed.
