Former provenance: Hôtel Drouot sale, February 28, Maître Lair-Dubreuil et M. Loys Delteil. On the back, a handwritten note specifies, according to Monsieur Pierre Rosenberg to whom our drawing was submitted in 1979, that this portrait probably represents Chardin's second wife, née Françoise Marguerite Pouget (1707-1791).
