Consulate period. Michel GAILLAU, grenadier with the 51st demi-brigade de ligne. His brilliant conduct during a skirmisher engagement on the Rhine earned him a rifle of honor on 26 Messidor An XI. In this engagement, he seized a howitzer, killed a large number of Austrians and took an officer prisoner.
