Emile Louis PICAULT (1833-1915). Important gilded and patinated bronze bowl, adorned with a medal depicting the ancient subject of Greek prisoners during the siege of Syracuse in 413 B.C. and captioned Olympias XIC Graeci Syracusis Captivit, signed Exp(on) des B(x)-arts - 1863. The foot with chimera head and claws. H. 22.5 cm - D. 37 cm. The wax model of this medallion was presented at the Salon des Artistes vivants in Paris in 1863.
