Shell and copper marquetry cartel in the Boulle style. Gilde - Lot 110
Shell and copper marquetry cartel in the Boulle style. Gilded bronze ornamentation. The domed top adorned with fire pots, friezes of flowers and acanthus foliage. The corners feature Hercules in full term on a rooster and an owl with outstretched wings, symbolizing Day and Night. The lower part is adorned with a fringed mantling in the center, between scrolls of flowers and foliage topped by a ram's head. Flattened ball feet. The gilded brass dial is chased with attributes, the hours in enamelled Roman numerals. The base is inlaid with floral and leafy consoles surrounding a coat of arms topped by a baron's crown. Louis XIV period. H. 66 cm - W. 37 cm - D. 14 cm. Small dents, accidents and missing parts, transformations. The coat of arms has been added.
